Walk with St. Nick
December 21, 2011
On Thursday, Dec. 15, participants of the Walk with COPS program, who meet at Memorial Park each Thursday morning during warmer months, held their annual Christmas party at the Johnston Senior Center, and were visited by a two very special guests – Santa and "Elfie" – who arrived in a white limousine. After posing for photos, Santa had gifts for everyone, and refreshments, including cherry cheesecake, were served.
In its 16th year, the Walk with COPS program, started by JPD Chief Richard Tamburini, allows the senior citizens and elderly of the town (some of whom receive transportation from Johnston Housing Authority and local housing for the elderly facilities) to familiarize themselves with the command staff of the Johnston Police Department.
